What’s on at Notwestminster 2017

Notwestminster is a series of free events for everyone who has something positive to say about local democracy and anyone who is up for the challenge of making it better.

Main event

Notwestminster 2017Notwestminster – Saturday 11th February 2017

Media Centre, Northumberland Street, Huddersfield HD1 1RL

Workshops | Talks | Participants | Ideas Bazaar | Sponsorship

These lively discussion sessions are at the heart of Notwestminster. Our workshops are all designed by participants. They are a great opportunity to share ideas and learning from inspiring projects that are happening in local areas everywhere, and to work together to come up with practical ideas that we can all try out in our neighbourhoods.

Lightning talks

We’ve asked some of our participants to give a very short Lightning talk on the day. These quick-fire talks are aimed at getting us all thinking about the context for our work together. There’s a live webcast if you can’t be here on the day.

Ideas Bazaar

Our main event finishes with an Ideas Bazaar where you’ll hear ideas created on the day and be able to sign up to work together to try things out. This is a really important part of the day, because Notwestminster is about turning our local democracy discussions into action.

The conversation will continue with our after-show drinks.

PechaKucha NightPechaKucha Night – Friday 10th February 2017

On the Friday evening at Notwestminster, you can take part in our special PechaKucha Night. This is an evening of rapid, thought-provoking talks about local democracy and other stuff that interests our participants. Think of it as our hustings and come along to learn something new and be entertained. It’s a fun way to find out what inspires some of our local democracy advocates and to hear about people’s passions and interests.
