More sharing and collaboration in local democracy

A Notwestminster 2020 workshop hosted by Sharon Dale

Notwestminster 2019How do we create the conditions for our organisations to collaborate within themselves and with each other? What are the blockers to collaboration? How have you made collaboration work? What ideas do you have which we can experiment with?

Through dxw’s recent project collaborating with Barnsley Council we have concluded that collaboration and sharing is a positive and beneficial thing in local democracy. In this workshop Sharon will help participants to analyse the ways that they have previously, currently do or might collaborate. She will be using a Liberating Structure called Ecocycle Planning. This method will help us to see where we are focussing our efforts and if it is in the right place. You will learn a useful new method of planning and we will collectively know more about collaborating and sharing.

Big hearts and open minds

Notwestminster 2020 main event

Our kind of democracy is human-scale. When we talk about local democracy, we mean the democracy that happens where we are, in our neighbourhoods and the places that we know. It is the democracy that we live and breathe, each and every day. It only lives when we have our hearts in it, and it only grows when we are open to thinking and doing in different ways.

So if you’re open to our local democracy being what we want it to be, and if you’re up for the challenge of doing something to help make it happen, please join us at Notwestminster.
